Miles Franklin was born in 1879, a fifth-generation Australian, and grew up on grazing properties run by her family in the Monaro region of New South Wales. Colin Roderick was an Australian author, educator, and editor, and a major influence on 20th century Australian literary affairs, perhaps best known for his books about Australian literature.
